Adjusting to Our 5 Week Home!

We are learning a lot about life in the city of Barcelona, but it definitely has come with some interesting bumps in the road along the way! We met with Anna and Marti and they gave us a tour of the the ICTA building where we will be working. They were very welcoming towards us and explained many of the sustainable features of the building, including rainwater harvesting, automatically opening and closing windows, and geothermal heating and cooling. We presented to the UAB team and gained some valuable input on what we can adjust to get a better research question. We also saw their rooftop gardens, which had the biggest tomato plants any of us had ever seen!

After our work, Anna recommended that we visit Fabrica Moritz, which is a historic bar in downtown Barcelona. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere there, and afterwards bought some groceries and tried to take the metro back home. Downtown was lively and there is so much we can do! We experienced some issues trying to catch a train back to the villas, and ended up spending almost three hours trying to get back with our groceries! We are still getting lost while on our adventures, but we hope that soon we will be masters of public transportation in Barcelona and that we can continue to learn and grow as professionals and friends!
