Buenos días! On this blog I am going to be taking you all on a journey of all of the foods I have been chowing down on😆 This is your warning now to stop scrolling if you are even a little bit hungry, because you will regret it!
The first time we went to explore the city after a long days worth of work we decided to go to one of Anna's recommendation's, Moritz! Moritz is actually the first brewery of Barcelona, opening all the way back in 1856! Their menu had a wide variety from chicken on a can to flammkuchen to this amazing pasta! I got the penne pasta with roasted chicken and pork and it was delicious and would highly recommend!
The next outing was certainly not planned and occurred because of an explosion in the Villa kitchen! We crossed the train tracks and came to find that there was only one restaurant open, and that was UMAMI. We were certainly out of place at this more upscale place of dinning, but we were too hungry to feel the embarrassment! This time I decided to try the Patatas bravas and the hot chocolate donut with cinnamon ice cream! The bravas were good but a little spicy for me (I think pepperoni is spicy so it is not actually that spicy) and the dessert was amazing and was different than similar things I have had before.
After a long day of presentations and drumming at ICTA's María de Maeztu day myself, Lucas, and Kelsey decided to cure our cravings with a restaurant on campus! All three of us decided to go with the simple yet yummy spaghetti and it was just what we needed to get us through the rest of our day ☺️
To start off our first weekend in Barcelona we decided to hit the town last Friday and try another one of Anna's recommendations! As you can see I got the roasted chicken and pork penne and yet again it was scrumptious. While at the restaurant and after dinner while walking around the city we got to see lots of dogs!
After a day at the beach Kelsey and I decided to try the Burger King, while the others went to a taco shop! To our surprise there are a lot of differences between the Burger Kings here and the ones at home. Kelsey was surprised by how real her chicken nuggets tasted and I was surprised by how little sauce they put on sandwiches🤯
Last Sunday morning we decided to take a short train ride to this awesome little bakery for a morning snack! We still can not figure out the exact name for this treat but it may be one of the best things I have ever ate😊 The fruit was so fresh and the base was so sweet! While here we started to brain storm what we wanted to do for the rest of our stay here in Barcelona!
A few hours after visiting the bakery we headed towards the city to try some burritos! This burrito bar reminded us of home and a very similar restaurant, Chipotle which we all have been missing very much:( In my burrito I got white rice, black beans, steak, sour cream, lettuce, and cheese! I would definitely recommend this hidden gem and according to Lucas they have the best guacamole ever😆
Straying away from the restaurants for a second, I found these at the market while grocery shopping. I had never seen these before so I just had to get them and mmm they are delicious!
On Wednesday after working we just had to jump on the train and try this Café that Lucas had found! This may just be my favorite meal of the whole trip so far! I got the grilled cheese waffle sandwich, which had avocado, bacon, and cheese grilled in between two waffles. We also plan on returning because it was so good and we want to try more! I personally can not wait to try their double meat churronut burger that is made up of pulled pork, beef, cheese, and mayo all in between two churronuts!
Finally, last night we went into the city to see the new Minions movie but had some time to spare before so we got some burgers! I got a cheeseburger, fries, a ovin, and a chocolate shake. The cheeseburger was one of the best burgers I have ever ate and the ovin was something I had never seen before! The ovin is two hamburger buns with ice cream in between and it was oddly good!
That is all the food I have to show to you for right now, but I am sure we have many great meals still ahead of us! Also, do not make fun of how much pasta I get, I panic when I can't understand all of the menu and my go to meal is pasta😅 I bet your stomach is grumbling now because I know mine is😁
As far as our research goes we are on track and making good progress and I am very excited to see the outcome of it!
