Nit de Sant Joan

Barcelona crew hit the streets to experience a holiday that would be impossible to miss due to amount of fireworks, explosives, and light throughout the night. This holiday celebrates the beginning of summer and typically takes place on the Summer Solstice. We gathered for a barbacoa en la Placa de la Merce. When not eating, most of our time was spent on vigil watching out for the firecrackers and fireworks exploding close by us. Several times we were left surprised and with ringing ears. We then made our way to the beach to watch the fireworks taking place near the water. While somewhat similar to our July 4th celebrations, Nit de Sant Joan had its own unique flavor that all of us enjoyed.
