Last night we ventured into the city again to go to the Parc de la Ciutadella and the Arc de Triomf. The beautiful Arc de Triomf was built by the architect Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas as the main access gate for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair. The arch crosses over the wide central promenade of the Passeig de Lluis Companys leading to Parc de la Ciutadell.
The park was full of people from all walks of life. People relaxing on blankets, walking dogs, street performers, doing yoga, and much more. On a hot day like yesterday, I can see why people retreat to the shade in this beautiful park to take in the sites and catch a cool breeze. Not only was the park full of beautiful flowers and greenery, but we learned it also houses a zoo, the Catalan Parliament building, and a pond where you can rent boats!
I love that we are just a train ride away to the city where we can explore the rich history and beauty of the city every night after work!
