Funny thing. Apparently the S2 train, which takes us from Barcelona city center to UAB, only runs until 11:10 on Thursdays. Who knew?! Unfortunately, a few people in our group found that out this week, but luckily they all made it back to the dorms safely later that night. We are honestly just happy that the adventures keep coming, especially since this is the last full week the Utah students will be here at UAB. Seeing la Sagrada Familia this week was incredible, and I think we’re all in agreement that Barcelona will always have a piece of our hearts.
Yesterday was the last group presentation for the Utah students and we all felt like we were able to effectively present our research progress and also receive useful feedback from all the advisors participating in IRES. I know I have learned so much from my advisors here at UAB and they have given me specific and timely guidance related to my project now and my future academic goals. Participating in the NSF-IRES program has certainly been an incredible opportunity to learn about research, make connections, and experience first-hand a completely new and exciting culture.
