U for Univeristat Autonoma de Barcelona

As Ethan previously mentioned, we've had challenges of adapting to public transportation, using our Spanish skills (lo siento has become a key phrase in our travels), and research hang ups. While we have had challenges, we have definitely had a great first week.

Thursday, we had the opportunity to learn about the vast environmental topics that those at ICTA are working to address. It was very eye-opening to hear about how the is EU and those conducting research here are working to combat issues with cities, community, land and oceans. It has made some of consider what the future not only for the world, but our personal paths.

Friday, we have had the opportunity to discuss our progress with each other, and both teams have had break throughs (WAY TO GO!!!!). We (VNW team) have determined key factors about our equations and are able to move forward with calculations! Self-sufficiency had a breakthrough when Lucas had a vision in his sleep of where the team's question could head. Apparently, he can't help but have research on the brain. It was a great day to celebrate in each other's successes!

Outside of the work day, we explored downtown Barcelona, found the cutest bakery, spotted some renowned spots and practiced our Spanish. We are off to see what the beach holds today on our first day off (hopefully not sunburn), and can't wait to see what next week holds.

Abrazos y besos,

Elly

Kelsey enjoying the sites (don't let her lack of smile confuse you, she was having fun).

Luke drinking some delicious (not in his opinion) espresso.

The group listening to researchers discuss their views on biodiversity and climate change.
